McGill University: Where Global Journeys Begin

What do Sunav from India and Milene from Peru have in common? They both chose McGill University—and discovered more than just world-class academics.

Sunav was drawn to McGill’s unique flexibility, pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Biology. Milene was inspired by McGill’s top-ranked mining engineering program and its location in Montreal—a city bursting with student life. From global festivals to cozy snow days, they’ve embraced it all.

Though Milene arrived knowing no one, she found her community by stepping out of her comfort zone. From saying hello in class to joining SLASA, the Latino student association, she built lasting friendships and even started a close-knit group with a quirky name: The Frog Cult. Sunav found his circle early through frosh, residence events, and cultural celebrations like Diwali at McGill.

Montreal winters? They handled them like pros. Milene credits McGill’s Winter 101 webinars for prepping her for the snow, while Sunav jumped into winter sports and discovered a new love for skiing and ice skating.

Both students share one key message: Get involved. Attend Activities Night. Join clubs. Go to office hours. Say yes to new experiences—even the cold ones.

Most importantly, take care of yourself. “Go easy on yourself,” Milene says. “There’s always support—from the university and your new friends.”

From academics to adventure, McGill is more than a university—it’s a launchpad for global minds like yours.
