An official test discount comes from a named partner of the test provider, redeems on the test provider’s own website, and shows you the discounted price before you commit. If an offer fails any of those three checks, look at it again before you pay.
Codes and vouchers are different, but neither is automatically safe or unsafe
- A discount code is typed in at checkout on the test provider’s website, and the price drops on screen. Example: PTE10CIALFO on pearsonpte.com takes 10% off, so ₹18,900 becomes ₹17,010.
- A voucher is bought first from a partner. You receive a code, then redeem it on the test provider’s site. Example: Comet’s Duolingo English Test voucher costs US$60 instead of US$70, is paid for securely via Stripe, arrives by email, and is redeemed in your DET account.
Either one can be official. What matters is who issues it and where it is redeemed.
A five-point checklist
- Is there a named partner?
Look for who is behind the offer, such as Comet, from the team behind Cialfo, and whether the test provider recognises the partnership. If the seller can’t tell you, pause. - Does it redeem on the official test website?
That means pearsonpte.com for PTE, the ETS portal for TOEFL and the Duolingo English Test site for DET. Your booking should appear in your own account. - Can you see the price before you pay?
With a code, the discounted total should show at checkout. With a voucher, the price and what you receive should be stated up front. - Is payment handled by a recognised processor, with a receipt?
Be careful with requests to pay a personal bank or UPI account, or to send money through a chat app. - Are the terms clear?
You should know which tests it covers, how long it is valid and where to get help.
Red flags
- A discount far deeper than any other source offers.
- Promises such as “guaranteed” or “never expires”.
- Pressure to buy right now.
- Any request for your test account password. You enter a code yourself, so nobody ever needs it.
- No support contact.
- A code copied from a coupon page with an old date.
Why old codes cause confusion
Codes get replaced. Cialfo’s PTE code changed from PTECIALFO10 to PTE10CIALFO, and the old one no longer works. Check the “last updated” date and compare against the partner’s own page before you pay.
Comet’s current offers (October 2026)
- PTE (India): PTE10CIALFO, 10% off PTE Academic, UKVI and Core.
- Duolingo English Test: 15% off, US$60 instead of US$70, voucher emailed after payment.
- TOEFL: CIALFOTOEFL8. Check the TOEFL discount page for current terms.
Frequently asked questions
Check that it comes from a named partner and that you enter it on pearsonpte.com. The discounted price should show on screen before you pay.
Neither is safer by default. What matters is who issues it, whether it redeems on the test provider’s own site and whether the terms are clear.
Comet is an official Duolingo English Test partner, and the voucher is redeemed directly on the DET website
Check the spelling and make sure it is the current version. For PTE that is PTE10CIALFO, not PTECIALFO10. Then contact the issuer’s support team.
