What is the PTE exam pattern in 2026?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

PTE Academic in 2026 is a single-session, computer-based test lasting about 2 hours 15 minutes, made up of 22 tasks across three sections: Speaking and Writing, Reading, and Listening. There are no scheduled breaks. The test is scored by AI on the Global Scale of English, which runs from 10 to 90.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What changed in August 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From August 7, 2025, Pearson updated the PTE Academic format. The total number of tasks rose from 20 to 22, and two new Speaking tasks were added: Respond to a Situation and Summarise Group Discussion. The two new tasks live here. Respond to a Situation asks you to speak appropriately to a described real-world scenario, and Summarise Group Discussion tests how well you process and condense spoken exchanges. Both reward clear, natural communication over rehearsed templates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Section 2: Reading<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Reading takes around 29 to 30 minutes and covers task types including multiple-choice questions, reorder paragraphs, and fill in the blanks. These tasks test how well you understand academic text and how precisely you handle vocabulary and structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
